A silver she-cat gazed down at a mewling silver kitten.

"Is she ready?" a voice boomed from behind her.

She spun.

"Is she ready?!" she cried. "She's just a kit!"

"We have no time for slackers." He snarled.

"Is she ready or is she not?" he repeated, a hint of the snarl still lingering in his voice.

She sighed.

"Yes, she is ready." she admitted.

"Good." he growled. "Then we must begin."

"What are you going to do?" she asked.

"You know very well what I'm going to do." he retorted.

Her eyes widened.

"B..But..." she began.

He suddenly turned on her with a look so dreadful she fell silent.

"What if she doesn't survive?" she asked.

"Oh, she will." he said gleefully.  "I'll make sure of it."

And with that, he turned and stalked away.

She gazed down at the tiny bundle of fur sadly. But then an idea struck her.

"I will guide you." she murmered. "Through everything. Good luck, and I'll always be here."

The tiny kitten gazed up at her as she turned and walked away.

Chapter 1Edit

Moon heard a high-pitched scream echoing through the woods.

"Silver!" she cried and raced back to the cave.

A horrible sight lay there. Her mother, father, and sister lay dead at her paws.
